Painting Process and Wet Paint | Laveda D. Rockford

Revelation 14
The Redeemed or
The Ransomed
by Laveda D. Rockford

Here is a new update on my painting. It is a work in progress but coming along nicely. These photos do not do it justice. If you knew the process of oil painting, you would know how difficult it could be at times and wet paint does not photograph well. Many of the old masters kept paintings that they were not finished with because it wasn't exactly what they had in mind and had to step away from it to think about it or paint a commissioned piece. Then when they returned to it, it became something more. I can relate to that.

I catch myself looking at a painting that I have not signed yet and have ideas to make it better. That is the kind of painting I am talking about. I think painting a commissioned piece is just as hard but at least you know what you are going for in the beginning. My paintings are not like that. I have an idea what I want to paint on some of them, and then there are others that the canvas tells me. All glory be to God.

Above the right-hand corner of the canvas, you can see my Christmas ornament that I am trying to finish before Christmas. I have projects going on all the time. If it is not one thing, then it is another.

Ah, the life of an artist, writer, author.

I do not watch the news very often, but I do read headlines. I am praying for all people who are going through weather related difficulties. My heart aches for you.

Love always,

Laveda D. Rockford
