Blank Canvas To Fill | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
Blank Canvas To Fill A new year begins, And many things change, Fires in California, It shows in the strait,   The time has come, To count your blessings because, We never know when and what. Will be the next cause,   Some filled with cheerful joy, While tears flow with sorrow, There is one thing for sure, It is time that you cannot borrow,   Looking deep within one’s self, To search and to find, What really matters, What is before, And behind, Your words, Unkind.   May God forgive is what I say, In every prayer, in every way, So, take this time and this day, And say your prayers heavens way,   The Lord’s prayer Matthew 6:9-13   And afterward, Blank canvas to fill, Fill it with beauty, peace, and good will. © 2025 Laveda D. A New Day and Year | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
In honor of my upcoming vacation and birthday, I thought posting a sweet poem would be appreciated.  We are traveling to see a part of the country that has meaning for me and some of my ancestors. There will be three of us on this adventure. My mother, my aunt Bonnie, and me. I will share a few photos on some of my social media accounts depending on the internet connection and when I return will share more photos on my blog.   A New Day and Year The beauty of trees and meadows below, Billowy fog lifts up, drifting, oh so softly though, Reaching for a mountain crest, Then pushed ever so lightly in the breeze, Up, up, to disappear only to return again, Again and again on the morning dew, When the sun rises above the pines and yews, Through trail and dell as sunlight appears, To announce the beginning of a new day and year.   God bless and have a blessed week. Love always, Laveda D. Rockford © 2023 Laveda D. Rockford

Image
DAZZLING LIGHT I hope that you enjoy this poem and update about my new painting. I know the days have been trying on a lot of people and if at all, my hope is that I can post something interesting to get your minds off the hardship, if for just a moment, my heart would be all the happier for it. So, enjoy this blog post and the photos of my painting, and let me know what you think. God bless and have a blessed week. Love always, Laveda D. Rockford © 2023 Laveda D. Rockford Dazzling Light by Laveda D. Rockford Light shines down on the water so clear, Making its path through the trees, Filling our days with warmth upon warmth, With each daily pass, its light oh so bright, What joy when the sun shines thus, Spreading its arms, Casting water into shades of light, Calm water making its way through the hills, Is dazzling, making things right. © 2023 Laveda D. The Sheer Essence of Love | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
The Sheer Essence of Love   Love is an emotion that can be seen through the sheerness of time, It cannot be coerced or prodded.   Love is a feeling that can be hidden from the world, Behind the façade of ones will.   Love can be given and received, But it cannot be taken, And never be deceived.   Love can change people, And effect history as no other feeling can.   Hatred destroys, love restores, Love gathers good things for its possessor, While hatred tears apart the own hearts way.   One is full of darkness, while the other full of light.   You can feel the weight of one, and the height of the other.   On any given day I chose to feel love over, All the gastness of hate.   Love is felt in the sheerness of time, Delicate, yet strong, Reaching out from its possessor, Filling the void where it belongs. The essence of love is the sheer evidence of God in one’s life. The essence of lo...

Through With Winter Shores | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
THROUGH WITH WINTER SHORES   A long-weighted time on winter shores, longing for spring, A glimpse of it here and there, Through sunshine and rain.   Oh, that spring would finally arrive And bring with it such fun fair, Awe, that it fills the air, From drab to a colorful hue when it’s there.   Beautiful blossoms and scents fill the air, Soft breezes dry the silky fare, The awe of spring is here.   Insects, bugs, and crawly things, Flit through the garden, Looking for things, And then a beautiful sight to see, In a garden so fair, The big, bright, beautiful wings of a butterfly, flying there.   It captures the scent of nectar so pure, The color of flowers for flight, The butterfly so delicate and the flower, Its perfect delight.   What wonders I see in the late afternoon sun? When butterflies decide to drink some, Flittering here and fluttering there, Oh, what a sight!   Through wit...

One Thousand Words | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
One Thousand Words A hug can say one thousand words, That one could not say, A blessed greeting, a blessed yes, A blessed time today.   A Mother’s arms wrapped around a child,   whatever their age, Can say much more than on a mind, a loved hug today.   Without words a hug fulfils, A much-needed way, To tell a person a mixture of words, In one single stay.   I could not imagine a day or time, A hug could not reach, The child, my child, with love in my heart, And this hug will preach.   Hugging your child is an honor bestowed, On this Mother’s Day, Cherishing the memories of long ago, A baby, who is formed to grow.   A hug can say one thousand words, That one could not say, A blessed greeting, a blessed yes, A blessed time today.   If you, yes you, are reading this, A Mother you did have, For without a Mother, Yes, a Mother, your life would be drab.   On this Mother’s D...

MY CUP RUNNETH OVER | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD

Image
My Cup Runneth Over unfinished painting Laveda D. Rockford MY CUP RUNNETH OVER | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD To start this post, I want to say something about the suffering of many people because of URI. This storm has caused havoc for many. I have heard stories of electricity being out for days, and now their water supply is suffering from the freezing temperatures. Please say a prayer for those in need and do not forget to thank those who are assisting them in whatever way possible. Being a light, for the people giving their time and/or money to assist those so devastated, is commendable. May God bless you and yours! While I have been snowed in, I have the chance to paint again. I never know what to name my paintings until it gets to a certain point. I wait for the LORD to give me direction. It came to me this morning and the name of this painting is ‘My Cup Runneth Over’. It is from one of my favorite verses in the Bible. Psalm 23. I hope you enjoy looking at the photos showing the...

INTRODUCING: BRIGHT MORNING STAR

Image
I’ll start this post with poetry. A poem always gives more to writing or sharing something profound. It begins the message with poetic rhythm while focusing on the subject. Bounding from word to word while the expanse lights the way.   I don’t know, call me a poetic junkie. I love it and I hope you do, too. *** AN EVERLASTING CARE by Laveda D. Rockford May Your Light shine, May Your purpose manifest through and through. May my thoughts always reflect You. May many come to Christ. The sound of Your glory no mind can fathom. The sound of Your grace does impair, The plans of evil, evil will not stand. Because Your grace and glory appear. Your truth brightens the path, Giving light to the world. Your thoughts for us surpassing, The death and living swirled. Abundance promised an everlasting care, Standing on the Word You share. No to death, that sinful lair. Because You lived, and died, and LIVE. Because You live! May Your Light man...

PAINTING: CHOOSING A COMPOSITION

Image
I am sharing a few more photos that show the progress of my painting and I will share a little more information about it in this post. New Painting: Untitled Laveda D. Rockford Nov. 2019 I chose red Tulips because red is my favorite color and has been since I was a very young girl. I chose Tulips because of their form and breadth. These benefits are wonderful when painting a picture that has depth. New Painting: Untitled Laveda D. Rockford Nov. 2019 The little white flowers are from the Rock Plant section in The American Horticultural Society Encyclopedia of Plants & Flowers . New Painting: Untitled  Laveda D. Rockford Nov. 2019 Why did I choose a rock plant, you ask? Well, the Rock of Ages is always on my mind and… it just seemed appropriate. This stained-glass window style painting is a lot of fun to do. And this makes me happy.  New Painting: Untitled  Laveda D. Rockford Nov. 2019 I hope your day is happy, I hope your...

LIVE EACH DAY WITH CONFIDENCE

Image
Prophecy given many years ago, Fulfilled before our very eyes, For man cannot live on wishful thinking, The purchase of property with deed besides. And He said, I am the LORD, is there anything too hard for Me? "They will be My people, and I will be their God." - Jeremiah 32:38 Don't live without the Word. Live each day with confidence. #truth #prophecy #fulfilled #Jeremiah #Godisgood © 2019 Laveda D. Rockford

BEAUTY THAT SHINES FORTH

Image
Thinking of the beauty that shines forth among the peoples,  whose thoughts are on other things. When a time long ago was ordained, And a man knew what was to come. A time when things were changing, A time when things were done. A time for perfection, A time that rose the Sun. © 2019 Laveda D. Rockford

WISDOM

Image
I've heard many say that the simple things are the most important. And then  there is this... May your day be merry,  And your day be bright.  May His light shine upon you,  And never be slight.  May you learn from glory to glory. May you learn from morning to night,  May you always be shining  especially bright. God bless you and yours. © 2019 Laveda D. Rockford

WORDS FROM INNOCENCE

Image
Have you ever heard someone say something terrible about their self? Do you know someone who just doesn't feel adequate?   If they only knew the battle waged for them, they would know how much God loves them and then they would understand their worth. #Innocence #GodLovesYou #JesusSaves + My Twitter post on 10/18/19:  If you read the post and watched the video, it was well worth the brutality.  #WinningSoulsForChrist   It's a good day.

WALKING IN THE STEPS OF MY ANCESTORS

Image
Looking out over the hills and valleys, and to walk in the steps of my ancestors. The Southern Missouri Fields of My Ancestors  The joy of hearing an ol' 'coon dog tree a squirrel, remembered in the here and after. Oh, the joy of momentous cry, the triumph of the skilled. Joyful as the years go by in my Missouri ancestors fields. Singing for good on Sunday morn' my Grandmother's voice could be heard. Rejoicing always for the good through the twists and turns of this world. While the hills and valleys of these woods continued all the while. The patter of feet in the old white house, wind blowing through, children gathering in the room while large snowflakes flew. Covered in white, Oh so bright, the southern Missouri hills. Joyful as the years go by in my Missouri ancestors fields. A righteous song could be heard rising through the throng, past the hills and past the woods up to the Righteous throne. Rejoice, rejoice, my Missouri anc...

ROCKFORD SMILES: CHRISTMAS CHEER

Image
Welcome to Rockford Smiles! In honor of the holiday season, let me tell you a Christmas story that happened to me a long time ago.  It remains in my memory as a bright, shining star among the dark silhouette back ground of the evening sky. I grew up in a home that celebrates Christmas. Steep in tradition, with Christmas carols, and the family gathering as most families do. Exchanging gifts, music a flow, cheerful smiles, around the glow… of Christmas. But one Christmas stands out among them all, a Christmas none, no, none at all. My Mother went shopping before Christmas day, to gather gifts for us that day. Smiling and excited to watch her children on Christmas day,… glad. Before going home, she had one more errand to run. Only to find, when she came back, that someone had taken all of the Christmas gifts that she had. Driving home with a heavy heart, knowing that she had to tell us, her children, my brothers and I, that we wouldn’t have gifts this Ch...
