IT'S SPRING | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
IT’S SPRING | Laveda D. Rockford I spent the morning cleaning out the flower beds. No, I am not done yet. There are so many flower beds at the farm that it will take me a couple of weeks to do it all since I have a full-time job. It lifted my spirit when I noticed a new little flower easing out of the ground.   I am not going to tell you what this is until it blooms. Of course, the daffodils are in bloom. Take a look at the photo. The bright yellow daffodils with a dusting of sunlight shining through from the background. Beautiful!   I noticed the Sedum was growing quite nicely. The fresh look of little green leaves growing up from the dark brown fertile Missouri ground. I thank God for the bountiful beauty this ground gives us. This year, it gave me something to think about. That the world is still turning, moving from season to season, and more flowers are bound to arrive. It took me a while to decide to post this on my blog because of everything happeni...

WOMEN, FLOWERS, AND PEACE | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
I spent the last few days traveling with my family. Everyone says that you should choose your friends carefully. Well, these beautiful ladies are my friends. Each one has their own unique personality. First from the left is my Aunt Bonnie. Her bubbly personality and ability to work a room is uncanny. Next to her is her daughter Carolyn who has more theatrical talent in her little finger than most. Watching her act on the stage is something I will always cherish and look forward to in the future. The one peeking out from behind my Mother is my Aunt Mary Beth whose ability to organize large amounts of stuff and traveling cases is phenomenal. Next is my Mother whose strength while dealing with stage 4 cancer gives encouragement to anyone who knows her. Then there is me, who is grateful to have such beautiful and strong women in my family. Each one beautiful in their own way. As you know, I love flowers. I arrived home in time to see a few new flowers blooming outside.  While ...

PHOTOGRAPHY FUN: SETTING THE STAGE | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
Photography is wonderful. For example, look at this photo of Bluebells. Setting the stage to highlight the subject matter is as important as the subject matter itself. I waited to take this photo until evening with a slightly overcast sky. I placed a semi shiny cloth behind it that caused the evening sky to sink into the cloth making the photo look as if it is the sky. It is always good to try new things out. You never know what you can come up with on your own. I hope these photos look as interesting to you as they were to me. I know this post is short, but I do not have a lot of time. God bless and have a blessed day or evening! Love you, Laveda D. Rockford © 2021 Laveda D. Rockford

SPRING BLOSSOMS IN MISSOURI | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD

Image
SPRING BLOSSOMS IN MISSOURI | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. Watching the landscape turn from winter drab to a light green that then refines into a darker green on forest trees and flower bed foliage is a delight. Then flower buds spring up and the anticipation waiting to see them bloom is always there for lovers of the blooming season. It makes a person realize that every winter finally blossoms into spring, bringing with it such happiness even if it is only to look at a favorite tulip. Look at this beautiful tulip that I planted around my Grandmothers iron swing.   There is such a thing as a Flowering Almond. It reaches up from the ground with fluffy little soft, pink flowers surrounding the branches. It is an old-fashioned type that is so special to many around here. It looks especially beautiful with the Redbud blooming in the background.   Here is a photo of the Bugleweed that is showing promise of a beautiful blooming ...

SOUTHERN MISSOURI SPRING | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD

Image
SOUTHERN MISSOURI SPRING My family came to town for my Uncle JV’s funeral and our weekend was filled with a mixture of emotions. Though he will be missed, we are convinced that he is in a better place than we are. I can only imagine the celebration there. I thought I would post this photo below. It is so appropriate because it reminds me of how God shows us His love in so many ways. Look at this heart-shaped cloud.  I have had time to deal with my emotions somewhat. I watch the deer in the evening and at twilight. This land is a reminder to me of my uncle. Most of us grew up here at one time or another. I am posting a few photos to show you what spring in southern Missouri looks like. If you ever have the chance to visit southern Missouri, I recommend it.   Thank you for your prayers and God bless you and yours! Love, Laveda D. Rockford © 2021 Laveda D. Rockford

This is a collection of photos that I took in 2020. When I took these photos, they made me smile. With everything going on, good or bad, this might bring a little fresh air to your world. I know that it did for me just making the video.  May God bless each of you and lead each of you as the year progresses. © 2021 Laveda D. Rockford
