Scenes From The Porch | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
Scenes From the Porch series  oil on canvas, 12" x 24" artist Laveda D. Rockford Scenes From The Porch I have worked all week and finally found time today to write this and post it. It is an updated photo of my painting without using the flash on my camera. You can see it much better than the last photo I shared of my painting. To begin with, I would like to remind you what the motto in my first book, Captive Deliverance , and screenplay Yahreh , is.         There is a reason for everything,        And everything has a purpose. Just like this painting that I just finished, R 1 of the Rockford Series, Scenes From The Porch . The scenery is picturesque. I can imagine relaxing on the porch listening to the singing call of the Meadow Lark and the soft cooing of the Dove.   A deep belief in God creates them both. Bringing thought of mind forward in action to present something others, hopefully, can ...

The Path | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. (Proverbs 4:18)   The Path My days are filled with work. I work full time, caring for the lawn, flower garden, and I am a painter of oil on canvas, as well as a writer and blogger. I am Laveda D. Rockford. My Mother, her doctors say, is in stage four cancer and has been since 2015. However, we are blessed that she can still do a lot of things on her own. In fact, I took her to see my brother in Texas and she will be staying with him for a while. Her next injections are not until later this month. I have not had time to write even though I have started my third book. The publisher that I contacted to publish my second book gave me an estimate but when I was ready to pay, they did not contact me again. I am wondering about this as I do have the funds and would like to begin. If you know of a publisher that is interested in a Christian novel, please send me the information so I c...

DAZZLING LIGHT | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
DAZZLING LIGHT I hope that you enjoy this poem and update about my new painting. I know the days have been trying on a lot of people and if at all, my hope is that I can post something interesting to get your minds off the hardship, if for just a moment, my heart would be all the happier for it. So, enjoy this blog post and the photos of my painting, and let me know what you think. God bless and have a blessed week. Love always, Laveda D. Rockford © 2023 Laveda D. Rockford Dazzling Light by Laveda D. Rockford Light shines down on the water so clear, Making its path through the trees, Filling our days with warmth upon warmth, With each daily pass, its light oh so bright, What joy when the sun shines thus, Spreading its arms, Casting water into shades of light, Calm water making its way through the hills, Is dazzling, making things right. © 2023 Laveda D. Update: New Painting, January 2023 | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
Update: New Painting, January 2023 Here is a new update on the painting that I started last week. I love painting because it allows a person to think, dream, and create their own picture of a scene. Whether it is of a village or a natural sequence of events unexpectedly shining down on their patrons, it is always enjoyable to see. The background information that puts a painting together is in the eye of the artist, as this one is. When I have finished, I will introduce you and tell you the background and what this painting is all about. Until then, enjoy this update and have a blessed week. God bless! Love always, Laveda D. A New Year | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
A New Year I have not had time to post over the holiday weekend. I hope that everyone had a wonderful time and for those who are not having the best of times, please know that my prayers are for you. It is a new year, and who would have thought we would reach the year 2023 without a problem? We, the human race, have to deal with so much. It seems, at times, that we hear bad news every day. But the good news is that we are still here. The bad news is that we are still here. What do you know.   So, we will do our best for the year ahead of us. I decided to start a new painting for 2023. Yes, an oil painting. I do not have much time to paint but it felt good to get a paint brush in my hands again, other than painting the bathroom wall, which I did recently. And yes, I have another full-time job other than what I do here, and my time is limited. I will not say much about my new painting since my aunt commented when she first saw it, “Is that stairs?” Well, no, that is n...

LAVENDER DELIGHT UPDATE | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
LAVENDER DELIGHT UPDATE | Laveda D. Rockford I know that some of you are dealing with a lot of difficult situations, as I am also, but we continue living as best that we can. Never think that you are alone, we serve a good God, and He is with us no matter what happens to us or happens around us. Gods love is designed for you and me. When I am going through a difficult time, I have noticed that God does things that most people would not notice. This past week He showed me that He is watching over me. No other way to say it. God bless and God loves you! Love always, Laveda D. Rockford © 2022 Laveda D. Rockford

LAVENDER DELIGHT | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
LAVENDER DELIGHT | Laveda D. Rockford I spent Friday night with my Mother who purchased tickets for us to see JESUS at the Sight & Sound Theatre in Branson, Missouri. We have seen it before, and this performance was outstanding! The music, sound, set, set motion, production, actors, and their representation was excellent. I recommend it! You can contact them at Sight & Sound Theatres – Branson MO (sight-sound.com) for more information and to request tickets. This afternoon, I started a new painting. I have not named it yet but wanted to share a photo with you.   I am using a new technique that, I hope, works out. I will keep you posted about the progress. God bless all of you artists out there. Artistry can be anything in creativity. What you choose to do, I hope that it gives something good for others to smile about, a moment of thought, reflection, or inspiration for them to achieve their dreams. God bless and have a blessed day! With love, Laveda D....

THE BRIDGE | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
THE BRIDGE | Laveda D. Rockford   I would like to introduce you to: The Bridge My first commissioned painting.   THE BRIDGE an oil painting by Laveda D. Rockford I could tell you about my painting and how hard it was to paint, but I am moved to talk about something else. God. I am a Christian and believe that Jesus Christ came to earth as a baby, died on a cross for our sins, and arose from death, conquering death.   God is the Alpha and the Omega, what happens in-between should interest all of us, but no matter what, we can be sure to live in eternity with the LORD.   The LORD the Shepherd of His People A Psalm of David   The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.   Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of    death, I will fear...

MY NEW PAINTING HAS A NAME | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
The Bridge an unfinished painting by Laveda D. Rockford MY NEW PAINTING HAS A NAME Looking at the photos of my new painting, the name should be easy to recognize. Although, recognizing this little beauty is difficult for most people. W hile forests flourish next to the rambling water below, you can cross the road to sprawling hills of luscious green meadows. A sign unseen though apparent in the scene reaches up to the sky above this beautiful sight of The Bridge on a gravel road. The Bridge is my first commissioned painting, and it is not finished yet. I will continue to post updates when I can. Love always, Laveda D. Rockford

NEW PAINTING UPDATE | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
NEW PAINTING UPDATE 2022 | Laveda D. Rockford I shared a couple of photos of my new painting on my social media pages and did not share them here. I thought it would be nice to give my followers on this blog an update. Here are the photos that I shared.   And here is a new photo. I spent the morning painting and I still have a lot to do, but I am pleased with the progress. I hope you enjoy seeing the photos, too!   Remember, no matter what is going on in the world, God is good all the time, all the time God is good. We have the benefit of living an eternal life with an eternal God. It is a benefit that is important in this day and age. There are rumors of war. Remember, Jesus Christ will never leave us nor forsake us. That is where we stand. If you need more encouragement, read Psalm 33. A Sovereign LORD and what HE would like us to know. Have a blessed day and wonderful week. Love always, Laveda D. Rockford © 2022 Laveda D. Rockford

My First Commissioned Painting | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
My First Commissioned Painting | Laveda D. Rockford I am at home today because we are under a winter storm warning. It is an icy, snow day with more expected. So, I have been painting. Recently I received my first commissioned oil-painting request. I would have started it earlier but working full time and my responsibilities at home keeps me quite busy. So, I am taking advantage of this snow day and painting. Please do not read into these photos, I am righthanded and I usually always begin my paintings on the left side of the canvas. When I get to the righthand side of the canvas, my painting seems more difficult for me. I would love to hear from other painters if they have the same issue. Anyway, take a look at the progress so far.   Well, stay safe and warm out there. If you are under this winter storm warning, be careful if you have to be out in it. With love, Laveda D. JEALOUSY: A STRONG EMOTION | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
I signed my painting today and included a couple of photos for your perusal. I hope you like it.  And since it is the ninth of Av, I thought I would share a few thoughts on the subject. The ninth of Av is one of the most devastating and terrible days in historical data. From the beginning of time, the evil one continues to try and destroy God's people. Those who chose Him as their God and His son, their Messiah. Jesus Christ came to give us the freedom that we are unable to achieve on our own. Jealousy is what the evil one indwelled from the beginning. What we can rely on is that the evil one will be held accountable for all things done in jealousy. Jealousy is a strong emotion that can send people into the same downward spiral that the Lord said He witnessed when the evil one was thrown down from heaven.  And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven." Luke 10:18 So, my advice, guard your heart from jealousy which gives the evil one access into your l...

ROCKFORD SMILES: OIL PAINTING | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
My Cup Runneth Over, an oil painting   This is the actual video that I tried to post last week. This video shows me completing this oil painting and shows you a little more about it. Please pay no attention to my hair that is hanging down the back of my head. I live in the country, and I did not notice that my long hair was not all up. It looks kind of weird because the ends of my hair are a little lighter than the hair coming from my scalp. A natural occurrence, I do not color my hair.   Why do I always feel as if I need to explain myself? Because if I do not, someone always reads into it something that I did not intend.   Please say a prayer for the people in Florida. The devastating situation that happened to the people who live in that condominium building is sad! My heart and prayers are for all those affected!   Laveda D. FIFTY DAYS: WAITING FOR THE PROMISE

Image
I have been studying what happened in between what we celebrate at Easter and what happened on the fiftieth day. They were told to tarry for the Promise. Since Easter, I count the days and check each weekend to see how many more days before that day. If it feels like a long time to me, I wonder what they thought. While I in my inferior thinking would wonder about these things, they visited with Him. Who is He? Jesus Christ. The excitement must have been overwhelming, and the knowledge of the Promise is what sustained them. My thoughts also go to what we are experiencing as a society. Some people are unable to work. Other people, whether by necessity or choice, have decided to stay at home. Though we may go through seasons and feel like we are waiting for something, or anything to happen, we must be encouraged by reading this narrative in the Bible. The waiting in this story was worth it. Not that I am making a comparison out of this time, this time is awful! I think the ability t...

PAINTING UPDATE & PRAYER REQUEST | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD

Image
PAINTING UPDATE & PRAYER REQUEST | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD Life always has its share of tribulations and I must share this with you. If there are any prayer warriors out there that can use their voices to reach up to the throne of God, my family could really use your voices to join us now. My Uncle JV has been fighting Leukemia for the past year and we were excited to receive word that he was in full remission. However, there has been a terrible setback. While recovering at home he contracted Pneumonia, was rushed back to the hospital, and received treatment. And there were complications. He is with his wife and family at home under hospice care. Please say a prayer for him and his family. And while you are at it, mention the rest of my family. We need of your prayers. God bless you for caring. Love always, Laveda D. Rockford © 2021 Laveda D. PAINTING UPDATE & CHARACTERS | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD

Image
My Cup Runneth Over Laveda D. Rockford Here is an update on ‘ My Cup Runneth Over’ , the oil painting I have been working on.   I worked on it for a few hours throughout the week. The process is fun for me, though some days I find paint on my hands where it should not be, but I enjoy painting so much. I hope that you enjoy looking at the photo that I am sharing with you. And I have something special to tell you about ‘ The Case of the Black Pearl Ring’. I thought it would be fun to introduce you to the cast of characters in ‘ The Case of The Black Pearl Ring’ . Some of the names will give you a little more information about their character. You will have to do a little research to understand, so, get your dictionary out and have some fun. I hope that I get a few smiles from some of you out there.   ·          Good guys o    Wade Hamilton o    Gina Hamilton §   Yahreh Hamilton, son of Wade and Gina Hamil...

PAINTING UPDATE | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD

Image
PAINTING UPDATE | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD When painting an oil painting, detail can be daunting. No matter how much you try, it could sink or get lost in the painting itself. I worked on details of the stone walls on either side of the road. It turned out quite nicely. I thought it would be fun to share a few photos before I go back to work. I will not have as much time to paint then. Painting is creating and/or capturing a moment. A swipe of the brush, in multiple directions, or a dab here and a dab there, fills the canvas with an assortment of color to resemble a subject. It is not as easy as you think. When you see some of the masterpieces in a museum, you admire the artists for the time and talent that it took to lay the scene in such a way that takes your breath away. I know that I could not be considered a talented artist yet, but if I keep practicing, you never know what my future may hold. Details are the tiny little items that you find inside a painting that amaze you. While ...

MY CUP RUNNETH OVER | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD

Image
My Cup Runneth Over unfinished painting Laveda D. Rockford MY CUP RUNNETH OVER | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD To start this post, I want to say something about the suffering of many people because of URI. This storm has caused havoc for many. I have heard stories of electricity being out for days, and now their water supply is suffering from the freezing temperatures. Please say a prayer for those in need and do not forget to thank those who are assisting them in whatever way possible. Being a light, for the people giving their time and/or money to assist those so devastated, is commendable. May God bless you and yours! While I have been snowed in, I have the chance to paint again. I never know what to name my paintings until it gets to a certain point. I wait for the LORD to give me direction. It came to me this morning and the name of this painting is ‘My Cup Runneth Over’. It is from one of my favorite verses in the Bible. Psalm 23. I hope you enjoy looking at the photos showing the...

2020-2021 UNFINISHED OIL PAINTING UPDATE | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD

Image
We have had stranger than usual weather. Winters are always interesting in southern Missouri with snow and cold but nothing like it has been the past few days. I was concerned driving home after work on Monday evening because we were experiencing below or close to below zero weather with snow. The road that I live on is covered with deep snow and I have not seen or heard anyone drive past. So, I stayed home today. What is a woman to do with a full day off? What do you think? I paint. I started this painting back in December thinking I would find time to paint occasionally however, with winter here and taking care of a wood-burning stove while having a full-time job took all my time. Anyway, I thought I would share a few photos of my unfinished painting. Please remember that this painting is still in the beginning stage and, with a little tender love and care, it will get better.   I hope to spend more time painting when the weather gets better, a time when I do not have ...
