My First Commissioned Painting | Laveda D. Rockford

I am at home today because we are under a winter storm warning. It is an icy, snow day with more expected. So, I have been painting.

Recently I received my first commissioned oil-painting request. I would have started it earlier but working full time and my responsibilities at home keeps me quite busy. So, I am taking advantage of this snow day and painting.

Please do not read into these photos, I am righthanded and I usually always begin my paintings on the left side of the canvas. When I get to the righthand side of the canvas, my painting seems more difficult for me. I would love to hear from other painters if they have the same issue. Anyway, take a look at the progress so far.

  Flower Garden Season Composition | Laveda D. Rockford I am trying my best in the heat of early summer to complete my flower garden borders. I have been working on this vision for almost two years and have finally reached a point where I can show you and you can understand. The newest section will contain a small patio area with table and chairs surrounded on one side with Buxus as a screen of privacy. Burgundy Plum and Cherry trees, as well as Sand Cherry and a few tulips will welcome spring weather. Then Iris will rise up until they burst into their beauty. Purple, yellow, and a burgundy and white combination. Oh, what a delight. Late spring into summer, Yarrow (Achillea) rise higher and throw on their crown of flowers acting as a forerunner into summer’s beauty. Phlox, Whirling Butterflies (Gaura) purple Salvia, Shasta Daisy, Hydrangea and Clematis all vie for attention in the summer sun.
