In the previous excerpt, the team is moving as fast as they can down the stairwell, but their escape is interrupted by the sound of footsteps. Changing directions, they head toward the elevator. Here is another exciting excerpt from my screenplay, The Case of the Black Pearl Ring.   *** STEVE, OVER THE EARPIECE: “Watch out!” The elevator bell rang, and the door opened, and three bodyguards saw them and opened fire using handguns. The team fired back, holding the bodyguards in the elevator. Cindy and the team veered right and held their position. STEVE, THROUGH THE EARPIECE: “Mr. Snit called in reinforcements. Bodyguards walking in the back entrance. It might be easier to leave the building from the front entrance. There’s only one guard sitting behind the desk in the lobby.” After hearing Steve’s message, Cindy said to the team around her, CINDY: “We need this elevator.” *** © 2021 Laveda D. WOMEN, FLOWERS, AND PEACE | Laveda D. Rockford

I spent the last few days traveling with my family. Everyone says that you should choose your friends carefully. Well, these beautiful ladies are my friends. Each one has their own unique personality. First from the left is my Aunt Bonnie. Her bubbly personality and ability to work a room is uncanny. Next to her is her daughter Carolyn who has more theatrical talent in her little finger than most. Watching her act on the stage is something I will always cherish and look forward to in the future. Next is my Mother whose strength while dealing with stage 4 cancer gives encouragement to anyone who knows her. Then there is me, who is grateful to have such beautiful and strong women in my family. Each one beautiful in their own way. As you know, I love flowers. I arrived home in time to see a few new flowers blooming outside.  While on the ro

When I met him, I said something to him that I wonder about today. It was during a very, difficult time in my life. I was young and had already gone through huge difficulties. At the time, I only wanted one of my peers to agree with me that life can be difficult. I have heard about the scars some Hollywood elites had experienced. Some received scars while climbing that ladder, also some from years before. These scars are what carried them through, riding on the wings of emotion. Emotion is the catalyst that propelled them forward. I do not know if the actor I met so many years ago had scars. Since then, I have seen a photo of him that made me wonder about it. Sadness is hard to hide. The eyes are the avenue into the soul. One way you know if you have succeeded in life is if you have not lost your compass
