PAINTING THE FOREGROUND | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD

Image
PAINTING THE FOREGROUND | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD It is always exiting when a painting starts to look like what you want it to. Creating the flowers and everything that makes the foreground interesting in this painting is a feat that only I might enjoy but I hope that it is nice to look at for you as well. Painting is so wonderful. I enjoy it so much!   I hope that you have a wonderful week. God bless you!   Love, Laveda D. Rockford   © 2021 Laveda D. Rockford

ONE GENERATION | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD

Image
ONE GENERATION | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD I spent a few more minutes working on my painting. Here are a few more photos for you to enjoy. This is a special time of the year for many and I think more people would be interested in what happened so many years ago. Here are a few words about a moment in time that came to not.   The day when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is past and the day when we celebrate Easter, when Jesus Christ gave His life for us, is near, but the season that we are in now is called Purim. Purim is the celebration of what happened in the book of Esther. The annihilation of God’s people was immanent if something did not change and change quickly. If God had not moved Mordecai to contact Esther, the Jewish woman who HE placed as Queen, as well as giving her wisdom, Haman, the henchman, would have succeeded. There are so many moments in the Bible of pure mysteries and miracles. If you have not read the book of Esther, you are missin

PAINTING UPDATE | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD

PAINTING UPDATE | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD When painting an oil painting, detail can be daunting. No matter how much you try, it could sink or get lost in the painting itself. I worked on details of the stone walls on either side of the road. It turned out quite nicely. I thought it would be fun to share a few photos before I go back to work. I will not have as much time to paint then. Painting is creating and/or capturing a moment. A swipe of the brush, in multiple directions, or a dab here and a dab there, fills the canvas with an assortment of color to resemble a subject. It is not as easy as you think. When you see some of the masterpieces in a museum, you admire the artists for the time and talent that it took to lay the scene in such a way that takes your breath away. I know that I could not be considered a talented artist yet, but if I keep practicing, you never know what my future may hold. Details are the tiny little items that you find inside a painting that amaze you. While

MY CUP RUNNETH OVER | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD

Image
My Cup Runneth Over unfinished painting Laveda D. Rockford MY CUP RUNNETH OVER | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD To start this post, I want to say something about the suffering of many people because of URI. This storm has caused havoc for many. I have heard stories of electricity being out for days, and now their water supply is suffering from the freezing temperatures. Please say a prayer for those in need and do not forget to thank those who are assisting them in whatever way possible. Being a light, for the people giving their time and/or money to assist those so devastated, is commendable. May God bless you and yours! While I have been snowed in, I have the chance to paint again. I never know what to name my paintings until it gets to a certain point. I wait for the LORD to give me direction. It came to me this morning and the name of this painting is ‘My Cup Runneth Over’. It is from one of my favorite verses in the Bible. Psalm 23. I hope you enjoy looking at the photos showing the pro

2020-2021 UNFINISHED OIL PAINTING UPDATE | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD

We have had stranger than usual weather. Winters are always interesting in southern Missouri with snow and cold but nothing like it has been the past few days. I was concerned driving home after work on Monday evening because we were experiencing below or close to below zero weather with snow. The road that I live on is covered with deep snow and I have not seen or heard anyone drive past. So, I stayed home today. What is a woman to do with a full day off? What do you think? I paint. I started this painting back in December thinking I would find time to paint occasionally however, with winter here and taking care of a wood-burning stove while having a full-time job took all my time. Anyway, I thought I would share a few photos of my unfinished painting. Please remember that this painting is still in the beginning stage and, with a little tender love and care, it will get better.   I hope to spend more time painting when the weather gets better, a time when I do not have to bring

LOVE: A SWAN SONG? | LAVEDA D. ROCKFORD

Image
LOVE: A SWAN SONG? Is love a swan song? I looked up how many ways to say love. According to www.indifferentlanguages.com there are over 100 ways to say it. Amour, Gra, Amore, Amor and the list goes on. In The United States of America, we have people that come from all over the world. Though this word is universal, where did this universal feeling go? I have watched hatred fill our atmosphere almost to the point of no “good” will toward our fellow man. Everyone who is a so-called activist should be concerned of this turn of events. An activist is supposed to have the innate ability to look at an issue and decide what is good and right, fair and just, with an equality for all regardless of what others do and say. To argue a cause that is important to them and this, today, is my cause. At the beginning of humanity, Adam was concerned when he did not see a companion for himself. (Genesis 2:20) One of the most important works of God was to make a companion for man. A companion is
