YAHREH: WADE NAILS THE INTERROGATION

YAHREH is the screenplay of CAPTIVE DELIVERANCE, a Christian Mystery Crime Drama. 

In this excerpt, Sheriff Pattison and the State Attorney are in the observation room with other members of law enforcement when FBI Special Agent Wade Hamilton walks into the room. 

They watch while Fred is being interrogated by Officer Jenkins in the adjoining room.

INT. OBSERVATION ROOM

MS WADE / ¾ FRONTAL VIEW
WADE (TO SHERIFF PATTISON):
“Give me a few minutes with him.”

MS/SHERIFF PATTISON/OVER THE SHOULDER

Sheriff Pattison looks at the State Attorney.

MS STATE ATTORNEY

STATE ATTORNEY:

“It wouldn’t hurt.”

MS/SHERIFF PATTISON/OVER THE SHOULDER

Sheriff Pattison turns toward Wade.

SHERIFF PATTISON:
“Okay, but don’t go rogue on us!”

MS WADE/OVER THE SHOULDER

Wade opened the door and walked out of the observation room, closing the door behind him.

REVERSE ANGLE/FS OBSERVATION ROOM

Everyone in the observation room walks a little closer to the observation window.

FS INTERROGATION ROOM THROUGH THE OBSERVATION ROOM WINDOW
YAHREH : WADE NAILS THE INTERROGATION

Wade walks into the interrogation room. He leans against the wall and takes out his pocketknife and starts cleaning his nails.

CU WADE CLEANING HIS NAILS
He proceeds to clean his finger nails. He doesn’t say anything. He only listens.

MS FRED

Fred’s shaking his head back and forth and occasionally looking over at Wade, nervous like.

FS OBSERVATION ROOM THROUGH THE WINDOW
OFFICER JENKINS:
“Fred, Tina said it was you. She’s pointing the finger at you! If you do not have anything to do with this murder, you should confide in us. Work with us because they are selling you down river!”

FS WADE

Wade closes the knife and puts it in his pocket.

WADE:
“Jenkins, give me a few moments alone with Fred.”

FS OFFICER JENKINS

Officer Jenkins grabs the table with both hands, while using his legs to scoot his chair back causing a screeching noise. He gets up out of his chair and looks at Wade.

OFFICER JENKINS:
“Good luck!”

FS THROUGH THE OBSERVATION WINDOW
Officer Jenkins angrily shoves his chair up to the table then walks out of the door. Wade walks over, pulls the vacant chair out, and sits down. He introduces himself to Fred and shows his badge.
WADE:
“I am FBI Special Agent Wade Hamilton. Fred, we’ve been following you for some time now”

MS FRED
FRED:
“If that’s true then you should know I didn’t murder that woman.”

MS WADE
WADE:
“Now Fred, we know you did.”

SWITCH ANGLE
FRED:
“How do you know that?”

SWITCH ANGLE

Wade looks down, curls his hand and admires his clean finger nails.

CU WADE'S HAND, CURLED, SHOWING HIS FINGER NAILS

MS WADE
WADE:
“They found DNA under her nails.”

MS FRED

Fred, using his left hand, reaches up and rubs his neck. When he lowers his hand, he holds his right forearm tightly.

MS WADE

Wade notices Fred holding his forearm.

WADE:
“Come on Fred, you murdered that girl. How’d you do it? Better yet, how’d that make you feel?”

MS FRED
FRED:
“I didn’t murder her.”

SWITCH ANGLE
WADE:
“Yes you did! When you stabbed her, did it make you feel strong? Powerful? How’d it make you feel, Fred?”

SWITCH ANGLE
The anger is building up in Fred, it’s written all over his face. He looks at Wade with hate filled eyes. Fred opens his mouth and closes it.

FS THROUGH THE OBSERVATION WINDOW

Fred starts to say something again, but Wade doesn’t give him the chance. Wade grabs Fred’s left wrist and pulls it off his right forearm.

MS FRED
Fred has a shocked look on his face.

CU WADE PULLING FRED’S SHIRT SLEEVE UP

Wade pushes Fred’s right shirt sleeve up to reveal scratch marks on his forearm. He holds on to Fred’s wrist and points at the scratches with his other hand.

TWO-SHOT
WADE (RAISED VOICE):

“Who made these marks, Fred? You killed that girl you’re just not man enough to admit it.”
