DON'T LOSE HEART

The LORD is my light and
my salvation; Whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength
of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?
–
Psalm 27:1
We
don’t know exactly when King David said this, but he was chosen as King at a
very young age. He began this Psalm with these words. And this is how he ends
this Psalm.
I would have lost heart,
unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of
the living.
Wait on the LORD;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your
heart;
Wait, I say, on the LORD!
–
Psalm 27:13-14

King
David, though chosen by God, was not immune to affliction. Because God had
ordained him evil came against him, buffeting him continually. If he would have
taken his eyes off the LORD, he would have lost heart. What does it mean to
lose heart?
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation. – Romans 10:10
King
David was talking about losing his salvation. If he would have lost heart, he
would have gone down as an unbeliever. God could not have helped him. God would
not have helped him.

Go
forward many years and many days later to this present time as we get ready to
celebrate our risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And open your eyes and ears
to this.
King
David lived in a time before the promise was attained. His salvation was
accounted to him through faith. We are one and the same, though our Savior has
come, we also will gain our salvation through faith.

Though
times have changed, one thing remains the same.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
– Hebrews 13:8
Therefore,
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of
God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through
Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7
