ROCKFORD SMILES: OIL PAINTING | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
My Cup Runneth Over, an oil painting   This is the actual video that I tried to post last week. This video shows me completing this oil painting and shows you a little more about it. Please pay no attention to my hair that is hanging down the back of my head. I live in the country, and I did not notice that my long hair was not all up. It looks kind of weird because the ends of my hair are a little lighter than the hair coming from my scalp. A natural occurrence, I do not color my hair.   Why do I always feel as if I need to explain myself? Because if I do not, someone always reads into it something that I did not intend.   Please say a prayer for the people in Florida. The devastating situation that happened to the people who live in that condominium building is sad! My heart and prayers are for all those affected!   Laveda D. JUST A BUNCH OF ROSES | Laveda D. Rockford

JUST A BUNCH OF ROSES | Laveda D. Rockford Our weather in southern Missouri has been quite cold for spring, but the last couple of days have been bright and beautiful. We finally reached eighty degrees and it has me looking through the flower garden for blooms. Not many have bloomed but some wildflowers in the field and a few daylilies. And that is not as lush as I would like it to be. But the dependable roses and their first set of flowers are always so cute and delicate. Here are a few photos of the pink roses, plentiful with the promise of more… I am looking forward to summer and more blooms to surprise you with. I hope to finish my painting soon and when I do, I will post a photo of it like I always do. God bless and have a blessed weekend. Love ya, Laveda D. Rockford © 2021 Laveda D. Rockford

CHANGING DIRECTIONS: THE CASE OF THE BLACK PEARL RING | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
In the previous excerpt, the team is moving as fast as they can down the stairwell, but their escape is interrupted by the sound of footsteps. Changing directions, they head toward the elevator. Here is another exciting excerpt from my screenplay, The Case of the Black Pearl Ring.   *** STEVE, OVER THE EARPIECE: “Watch out!” The elevator bell rang, and the door opened, and three bodyguards saw them and opened fire using handguns. The team fired back, holding the bodyguards in the elevator. Cindy and the team veered right and held their position. STEVE, THROUGH THE EARPIECE: “Mr. Snit called in reinforcements. Bodyguards walking in the back entrance. It might be easier to leave the building from the front entrance. There’s only one guard sitting behind the desk in the lobby.” After hearing Steve’s message, Cindy said to the team around her, CINDY: “We need this elevator.” *** © 2021 Laveda D. WOMEN, FLOWERS, AND PEACE | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
I spent the last few days traveling with my family. Everyone says that you should choose your friends carefully. Well, these beautiful ladies are my friends. Each one has their own unique personality. First from the left is my Aunt Bonnie. Her bubbly personality and ability to work a room is uncanny. Next to her is her daughter Carolyn who has more theatrical talent in her little finger than most. Watching her act on the stage is something I will always cherish and look forward to in the future. The one peeking out from behind my Mother is my Aunt Mary Beth whose ability to organize large amounts of stuff and traveling cases is phenomenal. Next is my Mother whose strength while dealing with stage 4 cancer gives encouragement to anyone who knows her. Then there is me, who is grateful to have such beautiful and strong women in my family. Each one beautiful in their own way. As you know, I love flowers. I arrived home in time to see a few new flowers blooming outside.  While ...

THE EYES: TEARS, SCARS, AND COMPASSION | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
Laveda D. Rockford  February 2019 A long time ago I had the privilege of meeting a young actor. He was beginning his career which turned out to be very prosperous and successful. When I met him, I said something to him that I wonder about today. It was during a very, difficult time in my life. I was young and had already gone through huge difficulties. At the time, I only wanted one of my peers to agree with me that life can be difficult. I have heard about the scars some Hollywood elites had experienced. Some received scars while climbing that ladder, also some from years before. These scars are what carried them through, riding on the wings of emotion. Emotion is the catalyst that propelled them forward. I do not know if the actor I met so many years ago had scars. Since then, I have seen a photo of him that made me wonder about it. Sadness is hard to hide. The eyes are the avenue into the soul. One way you know if you have succeeded in life is if you have not lost your com...

PHOTOGRAPHY FUN: SETTING THE STAGE | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
Photography is wonderful. For example, look at this photo of Bluebells. Setting the stage to highlight the subject matter is as important as the subject matter itself. I waited to take this photo until evening with a slightly overcast sky. I placed a semi shiny cloth behind it that caused the evening sky to sink into the cloth making the photo look as if it is the sky. It is always good to try new things out. You never know what you can come up with on your own. I hope these photos look as interesting to you as they were to me. I know this post is short, but I do not have a lot of time. God bless and have a blessed day or evening! Love you, Laveda D. Rockford © 2021 Laveda D. Rockford
