THE SWELTERING DAYS OF SUMMER | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
THE SWELTERING DAYS OF SUMMER In summer, wildflowers thrive, making swaths of color across undisturbed fields. Fields resting for future harvests.   The coneflower is blooming yet still cautious, its petals bending down, not reaching out into the summer heat.   When seasons change, there are always adjustments to be had. For some, the season causes dormancy and rest, while others find it exactly right for shining in the sun.   One thing that I can say for sure is that it is not the end of the world. Life goes on, seasons change, and some remain the same.   Thinking of the sweltering days of summer. © 2022 Laveda D. Rockford

FATHER'S DAY | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
FATHER’S DAY Father’s Day is this weekend and I have been thinking about the significance of this day. We have had a loss in the family last year and even though my uncle has passed on, I know that I will see him again. How do I know that? Because he believed and actually taught an adult class at the church that he attended for many years. He believed in God and Jesus Christ as his Savior. Was he perfect? No, who is? But he was one of the best guys that I knew. His quiet, sweet, patient heart is something I will remember until we meet again. He is with my Father in heaven. My Father that I speak of is God the Father. And why is that important? Because the Father that I speak of was compassionate enough to send His son to die on a cross for our sins. My Dad is still living and is placed in a special position in my heart. I wish that I could see him to wish him a happy Father’s Day but that is not possible at this time. But know that I think of Him often. I shared these photo...

Through With Winter Shores | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
THROUGH WITH WINTER SHORES   A long-weighted time on winter shores, longing for spring, A glimpse of it here and there, Through sunshine and rain.   Oh, that spring would finally arrive And bring with it such fun fair, Awe, that it fills the air, From drab to a colorful hue when it’s there.   Beautiful blossoms and scents fill the air, Soft breezes dry the silky fare, The awe of spring is here.   Insects, bugs, and crawly things, Flit through the garden, Looking for things, And then a beautiful sight to see, In a garden so fair, The big, bright, beautiful wings of a butterfly, flying there.   It captures the scent of nectar so pure, The color of flowers for flight, The butterfly so delicate and the flower, Its perfect delight.   What wonders I see in the late afternoon sun? When butterflies decide to drink some, Flittering here and fluttering there, Oh, what a sight!   Through wit...

WORDS FROM THE HEART | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
WORDS FROM THE HEART My heart is grieved over the recent act of one person against so many innocent children. My heart cries for that community. The mothers and fathers of such innocence, how do we comfort them? The only words of comfort that I can give comes from the book of Romans. Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil. Romans 2:6-9   We, as Christians, can have comfort in knowing that the innocent of the young are being comforted in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. My prayer is that all people will gain a righteous eternal life and see their loved ones once again. As I placed flowers on the graves of our loved ones this weekend, my thoughts were, I miss...

CREATIVITY FLOWS WHEN WRITERS WRITE | Laveda D. Rockford

CREATIVITY FLOWS WHEN WRITERS WRITE | Laveda D. Rockford I have been waiting to publish my second book because of the economy and pandemic. Waiting it out is not fun. So, I started writing my third book. What I thought was my third book in what I thought was only going to be a trilogy series has been listed as the last book in this new series. After completing my second book and how the book ended with a new team of investigators leads to a multi-series project. The Yahreh Series will be a mystery drama multi-series project. As you know the last section of the screenplay that I wrote for my book The Case of the Black Pearl Ring ends like this:   *** FS CAMERA BACKING   Cindy and Wade walked out of the building and Gina stood up and walked over to meet them. They discussed what happened while walking slowly back to where Yahreh was sitting. Gina hugged Cindy and they talked some more. They heard the sound of the door opening again. They looked back toward th...

Beautiful Spring Flowers | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
Beautiful Spring Flowers We have had a very strange spring. It started to warm up a couple of weeks ago but turned cold again. However, this past week the temperatures have given us the much-needed warmth for beautiful flowers to bloom. Here are a few photos that I took especially for y’all.   An early morning sun shining softly on these purple-blue Siberian Iris blossoms. Depending on the time of day and camera focus option, it looks like the flower changes color, yet it is still the same. Beautiful sweeping pink and white Weigelia blossoms appearing to be the perfect stairway for the bee and butterfly to find nectar at each step. Another beautiful pink and white flower, the Columbine shining brightly among the gorgeous rock formations in the background. And look at this little beauty, white petals of the blackberry patch splendidly announcing its springtime journey to summers production of berries.   When you need a break from the frustrations of situations in our ...
