Convergence of Stars a Precursor? | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
Photo of the finished ornament the I made for my daughter and her husband. Christmas, 2024 Laveda D. Rockford Convergence of Stars a Precursor? | Laveda D. Rockford During this season we know that the sounds of joy filling the air could fall flat upon the ears of those suffering unimaginable sadness. What can we do to ease the pain of so many? Do we let them wallow in self-pity? Or do we share what we know to ease the pain? Each Christmas is no different than the last since I have been alive. We celebrate the love of God. While God watched with saddened, darkened sky, His own son die, we know that His birth was celebrated with a distant star shining bright in the sky. Guiding those who, for decades, watched. A convergence of stars in the heavenly realm to announce His birth and our deliverance. Did I say Deliverance? Yes, deliverance! Though Roman domination was not toppled for years to come, the devil lost his grip on the human soul. We gained communion with God Hims...

Getting Ready For The Holidays | Laveda D. Rockford

Getting Ready For The Holidays | Laveda D. Rockford With the weather getting cold and below freezing, that special feeling of sunshine brightens my eyes. What am I talking about, you ask? The bright Christmas lights twinkling in the evening sky to cheer the sighs of so many. This is not the time when we only think of family and friends, but Jesus Christ who came for the price of our sins. Gift giving is celebrated for the gifts that Christ was given on that day when wise men came to worship Him. What is interesting about that, you ask? The three gifts that He, the Christ child, received. Gold is meant for royalty. Frankincense and Myrrh was used to anoint the body for burial. The ultimate sacrifice. While the Bible does not say how these men were given the knowledge of the Savior being born, one can only assume that they heard about it and was versed in the prophecies that Daniel taught them in Babylon. These men watched the progression of the stars through generations ...

The Staircase : The Case of the Black Pearl Ring | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
The Staircase An excerpt from the screenplay by Laveda D. Rockford In The Case of the Black Pearl Ring Wade Hamilton and the FBI team have some of Mr. Snit’s cronies on surveillance. FBI Agent Steve calls into the command center to inform the lead agent what he discovered. And THE CASE OF THE BLACK PEARL RING gets more interesting. *** FS OFFICE COMMAND CENTER STEVE: “Cindy, you’re not going to believe this. In the front entry, I just watched a wall and a portion of the ceiling move to expose the second floor. Something is going on.” CINDY: “What?” STEVE: “I was watching through their camera system and saw Samata walk into the entry way with an assistant. The assistant moved, what I think to be a lever behind the desk, and the wall to the left disappeared into the adjoining wall; the design that is on the ceiling split in half and the left portion was attached to the wall that disappeared. It opened the ceiling to reveal a staircase and a huge chandelier. ...

The Path: Shining Ever Brighter | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
The Path: Shining Ever Brighter Proverbs 4:18   The Path: Shining Ever Brighter I am posting this to share with you a little more about my latest painting. The verse that goes with the painting is special. “The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” (Proverbs 4:18) As you can tell in the photo of my painting that the morning sun has arrived and is reaching into the far corners of the forest while the daylight reflects the brightness of the day in water so clear. Flowers edge the riverbank and have spread out into the forest so peacefully. It is composed of something that only could be achieved in the full light of day, yet time has been erased and the scene is as if God Himself is watching. He sees the end from the beginning, always. It is a delight to know that I depend on Him in all that I do. With out God, I could not paint this way. To God be the glory. I spent the week before my birthday visiting family...

A New Garden Feature | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
A New Garden Feature Labor Day: a day set aside for special recognition of the workingman, or in this case, woman. In other words, it is a day to reflect on all of the work a person puts into their vocation. Though I have the day off, I still had to mow the lawn around my flower garden. And since I purchased a new garden feature, I had to post this about it. Purity is an especially important word in the Christian faith. The words purity and purify can be used interchangeably. Purity: the quality or state of being pure Purify: to grow or become pure or clean To honor our journey through this thing we call life, here is the new art feature in my flower garden. Life is what you make of it. You can make something good out of it or you can continue on the path that you have laid for yourself. It is all up to you. But if you decide to follow Jesus Christ, and pick up your cross and follow Him, it is a whole other life that, in the end, is well worth it. I pray that your L...

The Path | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. (Proverbs 4:18)   The Path My days are filled with work. I work full time, caring for the lawn, flower garden, and I am a painter of oil on canvas, as well as a writer and blogger. I am Laveda D. Rockford. My Mother, her doctors say, is in stage four cancer and has been since 2015. However, we are blessed that she can still do a lot of things on her own. In fact, I took her to see my brother in Texas and she will be staying with him for a while. Her next injections are not until later this month. I have not had time to write even though I have started my third book. The publisher that I contacted to publish my second book gave me an estimate but when I was ready to pay, they did not contact me again. I am wondering about this as I do have the funds and would like to begin. If you know of a publisher that is interested in a Christian novel, please send me the information so I c...

Timing It, I Suppose | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
Timing It, I Suppose No matter what I decide to post, there will be some bad actors around the world acting like fools trying to disrupt the beauty of my post. Not that they are timing it, I suppose, but it happens all the time.  I am posting these photos because I love my flower garden and I know a lot of people enjoy looking at beautiful things. So, do as you will, while I try to share a small part of my world with those less fortunate. Regardless, I will choose to be joyful even in the face of danger. May God bless you and yours as well as me and mine. © Laveda D. Rockford #flowergardens © Laveda D. Rockford

Flower Garden Season Composition | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
Flower Garden Season Composition | Laveda D. Rockford I am trying my best in the heat of early summer to complete my flower garden borders. I have been working on this vision for almost two years and have finally reached a point where I can show you and you can understand. The newest section will contain a small patio area with table and chairs surrounded on one side with Buxus as a screen of privacy. Burgundy Plum and Cherry trees, as well as Sand Cherry and a few tulips will welcome spring weather. Then Iris will rise up until they burst into their beauty. Purple, yellow, and a burgundy and white combination. Oh, what a delight. Late spring into summer, Yarrow (Achillea) rise higher and throw on their crown of flowers acting as a forerunner into summer’s beauty. Phlox, Whirling Butterflies (Gaura) purple Salvia, Shasta Daisy, Hydrangea and Clematis all vie for attention in the summer sun. The Rose of Sharon, single and double, tree and bush, will bring forth their beaut...

Memorial Day: The Day to Reflect | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
Memorial Day: The Day to Reflect An Opinion Piece Memorial Day is the day when, hopefully, all Americans around the world join together and remember those who sacrificed their lives for our country. There have been many wars, some that we did not want to get involved with and some that we started. The worst ones were the ones that we tried to overtly avoid. Which, I believe, in turn causes us more casualties than if we would have confronted evil when we were told of the evil that was happening. The war that I am referring to is WWII. Many countries were overrun by a horrible dictator who had decided that their race was the only race that should be elitists and by conquering the world, they could instill that type of rhetoric daily and destroy those who they had conquered. We did not want to get into that war, but we were forced to. We did not start that war, but we had to protect our citizens here and abroad. There is always an aggressor in a war. Some countries have been b...

Expecting Beauty | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
Expecting Beauty It is the time in this season when you walk out into your flower garden and see things growing. Some are small beginnings but soon will be tall, glorious, plants or flowers. You notice that the trees are starting to fill with their lush greenery and bushes are starting to bud. Some have already completed their spring flowering, each in their own time. Your eye is following the ebb and flow of this season and that gives you joy of what will follow. Summers lush, delightful days. Here are a few photos of my flower garden. Some of the flower buds are about to burst forth with their purple wings flying through the air delighting my senses. I know there are a lot of terrible things happening in our world but sometimes you have to go outside and look for beauty to ease the mind of sacrifices that so many are experiencing. Give your heart a little peace and look around for something beautiful. If at least for a moment of relief. Always expect something beautiful to ha...

Trust, Persevere, and Hope | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
Trust, Persevere, and Hope There are so many sad things happening in the world today but we, who have the ability to show kindness and love around the world, should not stop doing what is important. So, this post is about things that are dear to my heart. First of all, I would like to remind you and those of you who do not recall that my Mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. Cancer is a terrible foe. My Mother was 73 years old when she was diagnosed and after chemo, surgery, and radiation, I am happy to say that she is still with me. She turned 82 years old this year. It was not easy but the thing that kept her going besides our faith in Jesus Christ was her ability to look ahead to the future and laugh a lot with her sisters. On Saint Patrick’s Day in 2015 she had one of her Chemo sessions. We wore long, shiny, paper wigs. They looked like they were made out of confetti paper, you know the type that I am talking about, the shiny paper. Well anyway, she wore a gr...

New Year 2024 and War | Laveda D. Rockford

Image
New Year 2024 and War It has been a very difficult year for many. Wars and rumors of war are all the rage. What small-minded people start wars? Those who hate, those who have nothing more to do than find fault in innocent people living in freedom. Freedom is not free. Freedom was paid for from the backs of those who care enough to fight back against the darkness. I do not believe in war; war shows how far we have come from kindness and the ability to live with each other whether we have differences or not. It was not very many years ago when we lived in kindness. Have you forgotten? Differences define us. I believe in Jesus Christ, does that make me bad? No, that gives me hope for the future. If you do not believe in Jesus Christ, does that cause me to try and destroy you? No! I try to respect everyone no matter what they believe. It does hurt my heart when I hear someone use the LORD’s name in vain, but it is more of a sorrow for the person because I do not think they unders...
